We are now just under 3 weeks away from the debate, there are still some seats available so please go to the ‘Attend The Debate’ page if you haven’t already confirmed your attendance.

We have some confirmed panelists for the ‘Question Time’ style debate, who will be sharing thier varied opinions on the topic of Nuclear Power.

Julian Rush - Science Correspondent for Channel 4 News (chair), Johnny Ball - television personality, Jean McSorley - Senior Advisor for Greenpeace on the Nuclear Campaign, Michael Meacher – MP, and Gordon MacKerron, Director of the Sussex Energy Group.

The Sussex Energy Group, a leading energy policy research group based at Sussex University, is holding a public debate at the Flett Theatre, Natural History Museum between 2 – 4pm on the 10th March 2008. The title of the debate is ‘Does the UK need new nuclear power? and the event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science.

We have a broad range of attendees, drawn from industry, the media, finance, academia and the public with a special emphasis on young people from local schools and colleges. A ‘Question Time’ format will be used.

 The debate is open to all, please feel free to post and questions on the debate or the topic of nuclear energy. We will pass on comments and questions to members of Sussex Energy Group, and replies will be posted. If you wish to attend the debate, please email Danielle King, Event Administrator.
